Mary C. Henkel

Ms. Henkel is of counsel in the Vorys Cincinnati office and a member of the litigation group. Her practice focuses on trial and appellate litigation including representation of financial institutions, executives, and public and private corporations in class action litigation, defense of Truth-in-Lending actions, ERISA litigation and election law.
Ms. Henkel has brought and defended numerous actions involving alleged misappropriation of trade secrets in state and federal courts. She defended a financial institution in computer systems intrusion/ data compromise cases and has participated in prosecuting and defending copyright and trademark matters. Ms. Henkel has also defended and prosecuted Consumer Sales Practices Act cases.
Career highlights include:
- Participating as the primary defense attorney in an aircraft lease litigation case filed in Southern District of New York in which the client won judgment, counterclaim damages and attorneys' fees
- Briefing numerous litigated matters concerning covenants against competition by ex-employees, representing both employers and employees
- Participating in election law matters, including the successful challenge and defense of candidates for judicial and other electoral office, and challenging initiative petitions for adoption of new state laws
- Class actions involving consumer, employee, and alleged pharmaceutical product liability matters
Ms. Henkel is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cincinnati Bar Association.
Ms. Henkel has given presentations on covenants against competition by employees and trade secrets protection under Ohio law and on legal writing.
Ms. Henkel received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her A.B. summa cum laude from Xavier University.
