Gary J. Saalman

Columbus Office

Mr. Saalman is a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the litigation practice group.  He represents companies in complex commercial and toxic tort litigation, and advises clients on document retention and e-discovery obligations.  His specific areas of expertise include chemical litigation, silica and benzene litigation.  He also has expertise in the area of document retention and e-discovery.

Career highlights include:

  • Serving as national coordinating counsel in benzene, silica, and asbestos litigation for a Fortune 200 company and managing its litigation nationwide
  • Serving as Ohio counsel for ten Fortune 500 companies in the areas of chemical litigation, silica, benzene, asbestos and lead paint litigation
  • Serving on national strategy committees for clients in complex litigation 

Mr. Saalman is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association. 

Mr. Saalman has presented at various seminars on document retention and e-discovery.

Mr. Saalman received his J.D. magna cum laude from Notre Dame Law School where he was the Executive Articles Editor of the Notre Dame Law Review.  He received his B.S. from Miami University.

Mr. Saalman clerked for The Honorable Alan E. Norris of the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. 

Before joining Vorys, Mr. Saalman served in the U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Legal Counsel in 1989 and was an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County, Texas from 1996-1997.
