Richard G. Ison

Columbus Office

Mr. Ison is of counsel in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the commercial and real estate group.  His practice focuses on all aspects of commercial and residential real estate development, leasing and financing, including federally-assisted housing projects.

Career highlights include:

  • Over 40 years of experience in the real property area representing clients in all aspects of commercial and residential real estate development, corporate and finance matters, government relations and lobbying, and litigation

Mr. Ison is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association.

Mr. Ison received his J.D. from The Ohio State University College of Law where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and a member of the Board of Editors for the Ohio State Law Journal.  He received his A.B. from Ohio Wesleyan University.

Mr. Ison was instrumental in the drafting of Ohio’s Open-End Mortgage Statute that was passed by the State Legislature in 1967 and is now part of the Ohio Revised Code 5302.23.2.  He also played a significant role in the development of the original act governing condominiums in Ohio which was enacted in 1963 and is now part of the Ohio Revised Code 5311.01.
