Vorys Advisors LLC, led by retired Congressman David Hobson (R-OH), provides business and strategic counsel to Ohio businesses in manufacturing, health care, energy, real estate, venture capital, technology and other industries. Former Congressman Zack Space (D-OH) and former Ohio Senate President Thomas Niehaus (R) serve as a principals for Vorys Advisors. Mr. Hobson, Mr. Space and Mr. Niehaus advise clients by calling upon their extensive experiences as legislators and as respected businessmen.
The bi-partisan team assists companies that are working with state, local and federal government; consults on economic development and infrastructure projects; helps to establish important relationships and networks for clients; and consults on public policy strategies.
Mr. Hobson joined Vorys Advisors after retiring from the U.S. House of Representatives, where he represented Ohio’s 7th District for 18 years. Mr. Hobson held many leadership roles in Congress, including chairman and ranking member of the House Appropriations Energy and Water Development Subcommittee, where he obtained a unique perspective on how government and the private sector work together.
During his tenure representing Ohio’s 18th Congressional District, Mr. Space served on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. While in Congress, Mr. Space’s work focused on growing the manufacturing, technology and energy sectors of the southeastern and central Ohio economies. Mr. Space is also a successful small-business owner. He and his father opened the law firm Space & Space Company, LPA in 1986, and he worked as an attorney at the firm for nearly 20 years.
Mr. Niehaus was an Ohio state senator from 2005 to 2012 and served as president of the Ohio Senate from 2011 to 2012. As a senator, Mr. Niehaus represented the 14th Senate District, including Adams, Brown, Clermont, Scioto and a portion of Lawrence County. A fiscal conservative, Mr. Niehaus has been named a “Watchdog of the Treasury” four times and worked to keep taxes low and to make government more efficient. He earned praise from 100 Capitol Square Insiders as the “best listener” and ranked as one of the top ten “most effective” state legislators. He also served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2001 to 2004 and spent 25 years working in the private sector.
